The appTranslator Editions

The Standard Edition

The Standard Edition contains all the features described here except for the 'Export to Translator Edition' and 'Import from Translator Edition' functions, which are included in the Professional Edition only.

The Professional Edition

In addition to the Standard Edition features, the Professional Edition supports export and import (merge) of appTranslator projects to and from translators, allowing much easier collaboration between developers and translators.

appTranslator Professional Edition contains a re-distributable installer for the Translator Edition. This installer can be freely distributed to the translators involved in the project managed using the Professional Edition.

appTranslator PE supports the XLIFF file format in order to ease collaboration with professional translators.

The Translator Edition

This is a stripped down version of appTranslator that does not include the project management tasks:

• Translators cannot modify the list of modules and their properties.
• They cannot modify the list of languages.
• Items that must not be translated are invisible to translators (e.g.: Icons. See Do not Translate flag).

The Translator Edition is bundled with the Professional Edition and is freely re-distributable to translators working on appTranslator projects managed using the Professional Edition.

Note: The Translator Edition is not available with the Standard Edition.

The Translator Edition can also be used by developers who are not involved in managing the appTranslator project but only want to be able to build target (translated) files. (e.g. upon compilation of the application, using a Visual Studio custom build step).
